Tor Johnson, a former Swedish professional wrestler turned actor, is best remembered for his role as the zombified Inspector Clay in Ed Wood’s cult classic Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959). Known for his imposing physique and bald head, Johnson was a frequent collaborator with Wood, often cast in similarly monstrous roles that capitalized on his larger-than-life presence. In Plan 9, widely regarded as one of the “so bad it’s good” films of all time, Johnson’s stiff, expressionless performance perfectly matched the low-budget sci-fi horror’s bizarre charm. His portrayal of the undead inspector has since become iconic in B-movie history.
