Jack Lord was an American actor who is best known for his portrayal of Steve McGarrett in the long-running television crime drama “Hawaii Five-0.” The show originally aired from 1968 to 1980 and followed a team of detectives led by McGarrett as they fought crime in the state of Hawaii. Lord played the lead role of McGarrett throughout the entire series and is considered one of the most iconic characters in the history of television. He also served as a producer on the show during its final season. Lord brought a strong and determined presence to the character of McGarrett, who was often called simply “Mac”. He became a symbol of a law enforcement that fought against organized crime, drug trafficking and political corruption in the tropical paradise of Hawaii.
He also made famous the catchphrase “Book ’em, Danno” which he used everytime he was about to make an arrest. It’s become one of the most iconic phrase in television history!
